IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Eight times out of ten, this is going to be a yes. Lodi is a personable guy who wants to be your friend, and physical contact is a surefire way to build at least a sense of rapport.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Lodi is a pacifist for the most part, so this will likely have to be by request. It would take a considerable amount of duress for him to budge on this, or an unavoidable circumstance. Having physical violence done to him, though, is a different matter! Just ask!
RELATIONSHIPS: Platonic relationships are largely a yes given how he is. Anything more than that, it will have to be with permission.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: If a mind read is attempted, there is the likelihood the individual will be met with an immense amount of pushback. The force will be so oppressive as to border on gravitational. If one is able to push even past that, they would be met with overlapping, layered voices who would most likely be shouting in outrage. Not recommended! On his end, he can occasionally tap into foresight, but it is entirely randomized and the rhyme or reason for how far forward it is is indiscernible.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: He's playing host to the walking, talking planetary bodies. Or, at least, a number of them. They will try to speak through him in a manner of possession. Sometimes, the area immediately around him will be turned to platinum.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Needs his glasses. His right eye will pulse an unearthly blue, but the sight has been unaffected. On a molecular level, he is two steps to the right of "human".

VISUAL: Average height—around 5'8"—and is Just A Guy. Dark brown hair that is almost black, with a slight curl pattern. Thick-rimmed dark glasses. His eyes are normally a dark brown, but his right eye will occasionally pulse a bright, vivid aqua, with "veins" of a similar color branching out from said eye. Friendly, warm smile. Average build.
AURAL: Warm voice. Largely uses lax, casual language, but refers to others formally. Leans more towards being polite than otherwise.
DEMEANOR: Good-natured. Willing to have a conversation with most anyone. Excitable about topics that he's interested in, but capable of giving the impression of being thoroughly interested regardless. Charismatic. Avoidant of conflict, but not cowardly. Eager and willing to help.

Lodi is a former linguist specializing in translation on an extraterrestrial scale for the Department of External Observation. His current role as the Emissary of the Nine has placed him firmly on the system's stage, as a human conduit for those his organization aimed to first contact. Lodi was a successful pilot for the Air Force until his medical discharge. He is currently located in the Last City.

First impressions

Visual

Lodi stands at an average 5'8" and some change, and boasts an average build. He has dark brown hair that is almost black, with a slight curl pattern that only presents itself when his hair starts to grow overlong. Thick-rimmed dark glasses. His eyes are normally a dark brown, but his right eye will occasionally pulse a bright, vivid aqua, with "veins" of a similar color branching out from said eye. Friendly, warm smile. His posture normally leans relaxed, but he keeps his back straight. Walks with a purpose.

Aural

Lodi's voice is warm, and friendly. Has a detectable Midwestern accent, and the slang he uses will reflect that. Largely uses lax, casual language, but prefers to refer to others formally – this presents itself in fastidious use of titles such as sir, ma'am, etcetera. Leans more towards being polite than otherwise. Speaks intelligently, but will use filler words when trying to puzzle something out.

Fashion

Unfortunately forced to wear his own set of Aionian robes as a direct result of his clothing getting singed to an unrecognizable degree. It largely features muted reds and maroons, and is armored for general safety rather than personal expression. In reality, his only defining marker of personal style are his glasses, which are thick-rimmed and a classic style for his original time period.

Origin

Born Louis Yero to a couple in Wisconsin, Lodi lived a relatively standard life for a man in a United States adjacent to ours up until the 1960’s. He flew as a pilot for the Air Force until he was forced to retire via medical discharge for his deteriorating eyesight. He was flanked by friends and family, but had no lasting romantic relationships to speak of. After his discharge, he floated listlessly until he could secure a position as a translational linguist at the Department of External Observation, an organization that was dedicated to ensuring America achieved first contact.

It was a fulfilling role for him, and one he applied himself dutifully to… up until a certain point. An abnormal item that the DEO had recovered, a rotary phone with a cut phone line, rung in a tune that only a scant few could evidently hear. Louis Yero, certain that if he did not answer this call would come to regret it for the rest of his life, picked up the phone.

He was displaced across time and space from the Space Age to the City Age, long after the arrival of the Traveler—an interstellar embodiment of Light and immense power that had arrived to herald humanity into their Golden Age, and had terraformed a multitude of planets across the known Solar System—and the Collapse. The Collapse was an apocalyptic scenario hearkened by the arrival of the forces of Darkness, which changed the landscape of humanity’s achievements and brought their glittering, technological spires crashing down. In the wake of this Collapse, the majority of the human population and nearly every known city would be destroyed. Nearly all information prior to the Collapse would ultimately be lost.

Having been called to the current time by the Nine, living embodiments of the celestial bodies, Lodi would find himself adrift and entirely out of his element. It was only after a relatively short adjustment period that he would realize why he was called: the Nine required a human conduit to commune and interact with the people of the System. He was to become their mouthpiece.

That was how Lodi, Emissary of the Nine, came to be.
